I've planted bare roots in July. It can be done. Soaking them for a week prior to planting is key. And keeping them misted and protected from sun for a few weeks is great too.

There is another code out there for 20% off and it also took off the 10% off too. The code is J59 and it worked today. I was surprised that they had a collection of 4 David Austin roses own root for $34.00 before the code. They were some of the more popular David Austin roses like Jubilee Celebration and Crown Princess Margareta.

Diana,I was going to recommend that group of Austins. I bought a group of 6 last year which included Bishop's Castle, which you can only get at J&P. The roses are own root, which you can't get from Austin. And they are all doing very well.

I'm thinking about the OLOG tree roses......

I wanted the Jubilee Celebration which I think is exclusive to J&P I have one Crown Princess Margareta and two trellises so I really did need that one too (well sounded like a great excuse) Anyway with shipping & tax the total was $39 after the code. It was hard to pass up the OLOG tree roses, but I just don't have room.

I ordered the olog trees too. I had been waiting for an opportunity to buy this rose again. I had it for the other house.

I was tempted by the DA 3 rose pack ( I already have GC and PA) but just could not justify it. I also went to QVC and bought the square cedar planters for 25 dollars to put them in.

I have to many of the other ones for the collections to be any good for me since I only like the fragrant ones.

Is 16" pot big enough to plant a 24" patio tree rose in? I was told I need to put them in the ground or in a pot at least 20"? I have two 16" square plastic pots that I would love to use if it's suitable.

Ceterum, the coupon code blank shows up after you put in your order. In other words you have to be in the 'checkout phase' before they ask for the coupon code. J59 worked for me giving a 20% discount.

Are you all right from the car accident? Hope you're just a little woozy and no injuries?

I had the coupon box appearing all right but didn't accept the code.

As to the accident, I am in one piece but bruised all over and in pain. Right now the car is in repair and it will cost more than the care value is. Darn. I can blame only my stupidity and my addiction to plants. I was reaching out to the other seat to grab a plant that was falling down and lost control over the wheel, ended up in a ditch and hit a tree. Did I say that I was stupid?

ceterum, Last year the code was also J59 (I think) and the woman on the phone told me to try JS9 (S instead of 5).

But why don't you just call them and give them the code, they should be able to help you. I wound up putting in my order over the phone. But they do try to sell you more stuff.

Oh hep me. I used the "J59" code online, it works. It knocked off 6.00 off my 34.95 order of the Austin collection of 4 varieties.

I got Golden Celebration, Falstaff, Crown Princess Margaretha, and Jubilee Celebration, all own root, for 38 bucks and change including shipping, can't beat it. My justification? Mother's Day presents...yeah, that's the ticket.

This sale is very very tempting. The only reason I didn't jump on it as soon as I got the email is I have a few of the roses in each of the collections and don't really want to duplicate too many more. Kate, here's what wikipedia had to say about the sale of J & P:
"On April 10, 2007, Harry and David Holdings sold most of the assets of Jackson & Perkins to an investment group headed by Donald and Glenda Hachenberger. The Hachenberger investment group also owns an interest in the Park Seed Company."
I had heard the Wayside/Parks people were also running J&P, which accounts for the changes in marketing I've seen in the past year. If you look at the catalogs this year, they do all sound like they're written by the same people. Same with the emails.
My late season purchases from Parks and Wayside grow just fine, and since this sale is so early, I'm having trouble resisting!

OK, you guys enabled me. I got the 2 OLOG rose trees (I almost ordered 2 sets of 2 by mistake), a replacement for a Moondance part of a trio I bought last year. And I got my Happy Chappy groundcover (3). I had to get the bare root ones because the garden ease were not available until July.

I am hesitating. I would prefer the New Generation roses but almost every 'package' contains a few grafted ones. Despite my trips invasion I would try John Poe based on the raving reviews but I already have Memorial Day. Perfect Moment does not appeal to me.
I am hesitating over the Austins but then again I should fine a dew people who would take those I already have.

You guys have to stop doing this to me :) Just ordered 4 more roses now. The code J59 worked fine for me. Just enter it into the coupon area and it knocked off $9.99 from my $49.99 order so basically it almost gave me free shipping. I'm a little concerned that these are bareroot and I can't receive them til May 1 but will soak well, keep shaded per Buford's advice. I just had to have PJP after everyone's recommendations here. Also it was packaged with Memorial Day, Outta The Blue and Perfect Moment -all ones I was interested in. So NOW I am just hankering for a McCartney Rose.... May have to wait til next year for that one when I can start a new rose bed.
