Mine began as a one year old rooted cuttting and grows to eight feet each summer. This is it's third year and will be starting out pruned almost to the ground. So far it's not been so free with blooms but I'm hoping now it will begin to reward my patience.
It should be growing taller than ten inches by now. I'd expect it to leap this year.
Was yours own root? A friend of mine in Canada got a bare root Viking Queen as a substitute a few years ago and does nothing but rave about the number of blooms it puts out.

Thanks Karl. I got it from Heirloom so yes it should be own root. It is healthy and had about zero die back this winter. It is just such a little thing still! I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever grow.

I will continue to be patient and hope for some leaping this year. I could move it into a pot and start experimenting with a different location but I'm a little hesitant to do that in case it is gearing up for some major growth.

I'd let it be for now so as not to destroy any root growth.
I repot my new own root roses into larger pots after receipt. I allow them to get bigger for a few months before planting in the ground. They seem to develop better roots that way and grow faster after being transplanted.
If the small plant is planted directing into the ground, it seems to pout for a year or longer while it grows roots. .

I would say that it is not an overly vigorous rose. Mine is six feet tall after 6 years. It does have some beautiful blooms and does repeat.
