How often do you water your snake plant?
Comments (6)I'm in the same boat as you. This sans watering thing can get complicated. There's just so much information out there. My mother has the really common sans you see in stores all the time. It is in a glazed, six inch pot about a foot away from a south window. She says she waters hers about every 7 or 14 days. She doesn't keep track strictly. Just when it's dry. It's been growing like crazy over the past two years. I have some sans too. Four types. They have been doing pretty well for me all spring. I have decided to let the soil dry all the way through then wait a few more days, and then water. Right now they are in 3 - 4 inch pots. I have been watering probably every 9 or 10 days. That's only because they're growing right now though. When they go dormant, or stop growing for a time, I will wait until the leaves become slightly wilty or bendy....See MoreA snake in my composter!
Comments (12)jamb, if you're that much in fear of snakes, gardening is probably not for you. I very often see snakes in my garden. Mostly non-venomous species, but copperheads every once in a while. Most memorable was the copperhead neatly coiled up under the oregano I was cutting for supper! They are there in your yard whether you compost or not, whether you like it or not....See MoreCompost and Gopher snakes
Comments (12)I've composted for years and never had an issue with any kind of animal in my compost. The compost cooled off a lot a while back, and I've been using the "let it sit" approach instead of turning etc as I did through the summer. I took something out to the bin the other day and saw some dirt in a little pile to the side of the bin. The next day I saw compost spilling out the top and when I looked in I saw that it had obviously been thrust there from a burrow in the back of the bin. I'm not sure what's in there, but I think I'll be emptying the bin this weekend. It's not finished compost, but it'll be close enough to finished by the time the garden is ready for planting (mid May around here)....See MoreMarcia, get your glasses on to see this snake...
Comments (8)Marcia is doing great after her foot surgery but she can't get around well enough to get to the computer yet. Give her a few more days and she'll catch up with all the new posts, I'm sure! She says to tell you all thanks for thinking of her and for missing her. (Silly woman, I don't think she realizes how much a part of this forum she is!) Kate...See Morejbest123
