Size of purple smoke bush if cut back in spring

I am considering planting a purple smoke bush next spring. I have always loved their foliage and have discovered in an article that they are grown at the local botanical gardens and cut back each spring.

What would be the size of the shrub if treated this way? On a posting in this forum someone mentioned that they had one that was 4' tall after dieback. The Olbrich article I found, though, mentions 15' tall and 4-5' wide after two years after being cut to the ground. This seemed like a lot of growth for one year! I have a couple of places I could plant this but size would make the difference. I would probably pick Royal Purple or Velvet Cloak. Don't want the orange-yellow fall leaves of Nordine.

Thanks!
