I understand money limitations, but is $5.75 (including shipping) really too much to spend on seeds you really, really want? Seed Savers Exchange has a wonderful, good strain of these petunias and would be much better than most (if not all) seeds off of e-Bay. For other alternatives, I think Southern Exposure Seed Exchange also offers seeds, as well as J.L Hudson (listed under Kentucky petunias but I have heard that this strain is not as fragrant). Select Seeds sometimes offers plants of this strain, but to my knowledge has not actually offered seeds for many years. What they call "climbing" or "balcony" petunias are actually different from what Seed Savers Exchange calls old-fashioned vining petunias. Hope this helps and good luck, Ispahan

I have had the best luck at finding milkweed plants at the larger local nurseries, not the Home Depots and Armstrong's. Usually I am able to find them in 1 gallon size containers. It can be iffy trying to grow monarchs on nursery purchased plants. Many have been sprayed with pesticides by the grower and so are not conducive to rearing caterpillars on, well at least initially. Best is to grow from seed OR by from a native plant sale where you can ask if the plant has been treated with pesticides. If you would like to try milkweed from seed I can mail you out some to try. Thanks so much Noinwi!! I had LOTS of those green husks. I kept waiting for them to turn brown. Maybe I can find some seeds in the husks. If they fell on the ground and froze will they still be any good?? Or, maybe the one in my garage will be a seed donor! I love the white and light peach blooms, so I would be thrilled to get seeds for those instead of just the orange ones. I will check out the green husks ASAP. How are BES Vines pollinated? If I can't find seeds in the green husks does that means they never got pollinated? I had lots of bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, wasps, moths and we even have bats, but since these aren't native to our area maybe they didn't get what they needed for seed development. Wow....thanks everyone! I guess DH was probably right? (Did I really just say that??) In the past I have planted a Mandevilla vine on the end of the arbor. It did look pretty, but the wait until mid-summer for flowers and for it to grow to any size was frustrating for me. But....DH likes how it looked and wants me to plant it again. This year I tried Heavenly Blue morning glories, they are blooming now, but again the long wait. I have not been really happy with the morning glories this year either. :-( Couldn't decide why. I had thought that the look I wanted was to cover the arbor with vines....but after reading your comments and looking back at pictures from other years, maybe you are right. Not a huge or heavy vine, but stay with a lighter vine? Oh, the indecision. We built the arbor ourselves, no plan, just ideas. The "windows" were something we had picked up the summer before we built the arbor, with no idea how we would use them. As we planned the arbor, DH mentioned that he thought he could incorporate them into the arbor, and so he did. They are cast iron and have love birds in the center. I do love the picture of the honeysuckle and if not on the arbor, I will find a different spot to plant one of those!
