Need all-season COLOR for long hedge 1/2 day sun

My husband and I have an 18 x 3 foot hedge of roses lining our driveway that isn't blooming well because it's just not getting enough sun. Sun is ok until about 1 pm. when the maple in the front starts to shade it somewhat.

So we will have to replace with something COLORFUL (would like all season if possible?) that can bloom in these conditions. Needs to be hardy (we get lots of snow)& not taller than 5 feet.

Does anyone have suggestions? I was considering Weigela My Monet (but only if the pink really stands out enough w/this amt. of sun) or possibly Viburnum Blue Muffin (if it's as good as it sounds?) Or possibly just some more dwarf barberry w/something else more interesting in between. I was HOPING to find something that bloomed or had berries for 2 seasons. I was thinking of euonymus Gold Splash or Coralberry Amethyst as possibilities.

I really hoped to keep the colors in the blue or dark pink/maroon range (house is blue, roof is maroon)....

I get so tired of seeing everyone's plain old hostas and plain green shrubs.

Hope it isn't an impossible quest.

Thanks!

Phyl
