New Compost Bin- too big, need lining?

I built a new compost bin using a wire mesh cage. I was aiming for 48", but ended up with about 51 1/2" in diameter. It is 40" tall. Is this too big, or is there such a thing? I have not lined it with anything, but I have read that can be beneficial to retaining heat. Perhaps line with trash bags/plastic liner of some sort and poke a few holes in it for air circulation?

For those of you using this type of setup..or know about it...would you line the cage, and is it too large? I have neighbors that have agreed to let me have their yard clippings and leaves...yay! So I should be able to fill it soon. I may even go knock on a few doors of neighbors I haven't met yet. Great way to break the ice. : )

Thanks!
