I checked the Target link and it said 10 ft long. You could buy or make the hoops separately and cover with a floating row cover, which should let enough light in, uncovering it in daytime if you prefer (since the deer are generally not troublesome until late afternoon & night). I wonder if window-screen fabric would be soft enough to drape and if it would let in enough light? I have a "scare-crow" motion activated water sprinkler but don't know if it would cover 23ft. We finally built a 8ft fence around the garden. We also fed the deer so much other good stuff we had 30 to 40 in the yard at a time during the bleak months. Expensive "pets". Good luck.

Terrybull: What are you using for potting soil? In Southwest Ohio, I would be concerned about only needing to water once a week in the summer. I am using Al's 5-1-1 in my baskets this year. Last year I used a quality nonsoil mix with composted bark and peat. When it got very hot and dry, I had to water every other day. I don't think that's unreasonable. Four weeks into this season, I think the 5-1-1 has already proved it's worth. We've had unseasonable cold and record breaking rainfall. None of my hanging coir-lined baskets are soggy, and they are growing well.

Hola Barb, Especially in the summer, I saturate the organic matter when a pile is built. The "damp like a wrung out sponge" admonition has never worked in our Mediterranean/desert climate for me. I use 1/2" square hardware cloth wire enclosure that is three foot high and approximately 12 feet in circumference. Once, I lined the inside of the bin with a tarp to keep the moisture inside the pile and covered the top with no adverse anaerobic effects. A root feeder works well to saturate the pile after it is built or add additional moisture when necessary. The latest quantity of shredded leaves for compost was spread out on the ground before the last substantial rain that we had and then loaded into unlined bins afterward. The top of the piles were left flat instead of being mounded as is usually the case due to the abundance of material so rain would more likely soak into the stack. The outer inch or so is relatively dry, now, but the innards are still moist, though I haven't done the squeeze test to see if a few drops of moisture will come out when a handful is compressed. Didn't worry about it since as you related we are supposed to have some actual drops this coming week. Terran

Trampolins? LOL, reminds me of an idea that was so simple and useful I saw at one of the local Flea Markets I am surprised no one has done more of the same. The guy recycled an old trampolin as was, even using the springs and plastic canvas as was. All he did was make the legs longer by adding more pipe until it was tall enough for a 6' person to walk in. Now is that simple or what? Would make a perfect, flat roofed shelter for most any reason, to include a greenhouse. Anything hitting the roof would naturally bounce off, lol. It is also possible with a little construction talent to put a peaked roof on with more pipe, like any common "gazebo" frame. The only hard part would be the peak of the roof since one needs some sort of thick metal pan to attach the roof poles to, or through. I am sure someone here would have an idea or two using recycle parts, like a stainless steel metal bowl or something. If you like the general appearance of a "gazebo" frame, then you realize how an old trampoline made taller by extending the "legs" is a natural recycler's dream project. There is also no reason not to move the legs out a tad from verticle if you are so inclinded. That slightly outward placement would provide a little more floor space and slope the walls, if you should enclose your frame. I have used large diameter PVC pipe to do the same thing, but I can see how a galvanized metal tube frame would be stronger and last longer as a greenhouse project. I have also seen some rather large trampolins. If the frame can handle bouncing adults trying to injure each other in various ways, while tipping the weight scales past 200 lbs each, I am sure the frame can hold up sheet plastic and other greenhouse coverings during most storms, outside of the monsters that can take off with your house. Got any ideas? How about sending me a large trampolin frame for my next project? I am sure I can use some galvanized fence posts to make it taller.
