greenhouse kit 'Arrow' ??

Does anyone have experience with this kit? The price is very good according to my searching. The shipping is free from 4 different places in the U.S. I'd appreciate any feedback on it as I am sorely tempted.

Is it sealed well? foundation tips or even instructions? value? piece of junk? anything would be appreciated.

Online Walmart only, has $664.00 for the same kit, but no free shipping.

I built not a GH, but a metal Arrow building a couple years ago and swore "never again"! It was a zillion tiny screws & washers & flimsy panels & sharp edges &... but well it wasn't their GH! I would say tho as observations:

1. What are the "break-resistant glazed wall panels"? Plastic/polycarbonate/fiberglass/what?

2. "Steel parts are hot-dipped galvanized" meaning they are coated but if scratched will likely rust, and for sure a GH is a moist environment. My Arrow building has numerous rust spots already.

3. If you do buy it, don't bother with the Base Kit--I bought one for mine and didn't use it, instead I used timbers for a base and the base kit (thin guage metal), is in a scrap pile here somewhere.

Before you buy the Arrow you should look also at the Harbor Freight GH, which is half the price and has Aluminum members and twinwall polycarbonate panels.

I got my greenhouse from Farmtek - the Clearspan ClearView, which is quite different from the Backyard Pro. It took a lot longer to put together than suggested, but their customer service was stellar--still is, a year later. If something failed they just sent out a new one, let me change out my heaters after I couldn't get propane affordably, and spent hours on the phone with my DH helping him with instructions and deciding on the best layout for venting fans and stuff. One way to control humidity is to vent the GH at dusk, when the temperature drops. Pro greenhouses that use that as a control usually have a timer that does the venting automatically, otherwise it would be a real pain to have to do it manually every day. I haven't had a real problem with humidity, but I keep the GH a lot cooler in the winter so there aren't huge temperature extremes on sunny days, which means the vent fans are going on a few times during the day.

One of the materials I always wanted to try was the twin-wall polyethylene material. It would seem to allow for easier custom installations vs. rigid polycarbonate twin wall. However, I have never tried it, yet. The 72% light transmission might be a problem for fruiting plants, and no guarantee on the life of the material is listed, at least in the grower supply catalog. It looks like it costs about $38 per 4 ft x 8 foot section, which is somewhat less than the $50 for a similar size of rigid twin wall polycarbonate. The catalog does not mention an extra charge for packaging, which would significantly reduce the total cost vs. rigid. If you try this material, let us know what you find.

OK, no greenhouse kit suggestions? By just reading through all the posts in the forum, one of the most popular higher end greenhouse kits seem to be the cross country. The Rions seem to have their proponents and detractors. That doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I would be kind of peeved if I purchased a greenhouse kit for $3000 or so and had it leak or melt in the sun. For less than the price of the cross-country, my DH can easily build me one from scratch. Maybe that is the way to go. One more question if someone would be so kind....I understand that pressure-treated wood may cause some problems if moisture builds up inside the greenhouse and drips on the plants. thanks for the advice. It is well taken. The reason that I passed up the HFGH is because it looks flimsey, whereas the Arrow one had a wall going up about 3 feet from the base. This appeals to me. However, I suppose for the price difference, I could put stryfoan insulation along the bottom of the HFGH. Now I'm wondering...?

K-mart online makes it even more tempting at 649.00 plus free shipping.

laserfan, here's the answer to one of your questions:
Durable break resistant glazed siding resists breaking and cracking.

Bottom panels made with hot dipped galvanized steel finished with a baked on enamel - eggshell in color - .010 inches thick

Break resistant window type siding is made of "Duralite" fiberglass reinforced plastic - milky in color - .035 inches thick

Was this also true with your shed kit: Â All greenhouse parts pre-cut & pre-drilled and numbered for faster and easier assembly

Yeah that's right. I do think IIRC that my biggest issue with it was keeping track of the myriad of parts (and this was just one of their $299 8x10 buildings) and getting them all to fit. My favorite toy as a kid was an Erector Set yet this thing drove me nuts. Still, my 10X12 HFGH was for me a blast to build--great fun & a challenge.

I dunno Tom, the Arrow is nice-looking, and it does seem better proportioned than the $299-on-sale HFGH 6x8. Just for reference, my 10x12 HFGH was $656 delivered, then I've put another couple hundred bucks into it maybe.

Have you done a search on 'Arrow' here? I don't know that I've ever seen one mentioned...
