What would look nice paired with Viburnum 'Mariesii'

I just purchased 3 large Viburnum plicatum var. tomentosum 'Mariesii' that will be the start of a shrub buffer between woods and lawn on one portion of our land. What do you think would be nice paired with them, maybe space between them, but placed forward so the viburnum have room to spread. The nursery had a variegated cornus with red twigs that I liked - but maybe get too big (they said they can easily be mananged, but still). I also liked the blueberry muffin viburnum and the cranberry bush viburnum (dwarf?).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. The site faces east and gets morning sun and is protected from after noon sun by the trees behind them. We are zone 5/6, depending on who you talk to. I tend to say zone 5 because of wind, but this planting is not in a windy spot. Thanks.
