Foxglove F1 hybrid - when to plant seedlings outside

I have seedlings I started in Nov 2009 and they are becoming rootbound in their small pot. I've overwintered them in a cool greenhouse (a few nights down to about 27-28). They look lovely and healthy but I'm afraid not for long as they're becoming rootbound.

Our last average frost date is March 22. I've never grown this plant before and wonder if I should go ahead and plant it in the garden and then cover it, if nights get cold before they settle down to spring temps. I've read it actually likes cool days & nights but I imagine a frost would not be good for it. I could turn a big bucket over it if cold nights appear.

Do you think this would be better than trying to put it into a larger pot and then plant out later this spring? My zone is 7b.

My thanks for your advice.

Mary
