What are the odds the a spayed kitten didn't actually get spayed?

The vet bill says

it was spayed.

The kitten (is it still a kitten @ 6/7 months?) is acting like a cat in heat (and exibiting the physical signs).

Is this normal or did they forget to spay the kitten and just sent it home anyway.

The yowling and putting it's butt in everyones face was another clue that it might be in heat. If an already spayed cat does I won't be concerned.

What do you think?

LOL...I take a guess and say its not spayed. I hate that yelling they do, drives me up the wall.

Lisa what file did you find your problem in?

I thought I had won the battle but now realize I have lost it. LOL

I have my log file posted and working on it. This is so crazy and a waste of alot of time.

HIWTHI, the calming collars are one product in a line of products from Feliway. Feliway also produces plug-in versions (like a Glade plug-in) that you plug in to an electrical outlet. There is a vial of an aromatherapy oil that sits in the plug-in unit and it releases a pheremone that calms the cats into the air. I have never used the calming collar for the same reason you say -- worries about how cats react to the smell. Also, I don't like the idea of putting something on the cat for some reason. People have had too many cats get sick from flea collars (and by the way, they are not really safe for cats but flea treatment is another whole problem). I have always used the plug in in the room where the cat is spending most of his or her time. In the case of a peeing cat, as I've said before, I kept mine in a small area until she felt more secure, so I put the Feliway in that area. The least expensive versions of it are on Amazon. My local pet store charged almost double. Also, once you buy the plug in part you only have to replace the oil every 4 - 6 weeks. I think there are other Feliway products besides the collar and the plug-in unit and the spray (which some people have had luck with). If you read the reviews on Amazon you can learn more.

Hi, thanks for the responses. I am not always very good about following up as I don't get online too often. Anyways, we decided to go ahead and get the spay done. We picked Zori (kitten) up this morning, and if it weren't for the obvious shaven stomach and stitches I'd barely know anything was done, she has bounced back sooo much faster than my other cat did. The only problem I am having now is that our other cat, April, is acting really weird around her (hissing and swatting) which isn't too much of an issue while I am home for the weekend watching them, and I hope she will chill before I have to go back to work on Monday. I guess maybe Zori smells funny to her after being at the vet?

This is why I stopped coming here to ask for help! Have lived in our country home for 30 years and my cats do fine outside - climb trees, etc. They just love to sit on the decks and smell the roses. They go out in the winter first thing in the morning but don't like the cold weather and are back in in less than 10 minutes. I lost one last year at 19, and another one eight years ago at 18. I have a 12 , 10, and 7 year old besides this 6 month old one. I know all about the pros and cons of declawing and letting them be outside. I take them to the vet whenever they sneeze,etc. You wouldn't believe what my vet bills are but they are my kids and I will pay whatever I have to. Before we had cats, we had three dogs - one was paralyzed due to a slipped disc for 12 of his 16 years (wore diapers and got around in a walker - still loved to play ball) another one was blind her last four years (lived to 15) and our collie had diabetes - two shots a day her last two years. In the summer the cats go every weekend to our boat - and yes they all have life preservers and wear them when we cruise (they are in the cockpit while underway and are not allowed to stay in any of the cabins where we can't find them). We have a ditch bag with water and food for them and have practiced our evac plan to get them in the dingy. And the boat is enclosed so they can't get out unless we open the doors and let them out. Several like to walk out on the bow while in the slip but we are always with them. One of our best friends has the boat next to us and he is over in minutes if I think any of them has a problem. AS a matter of fact, When our old kitty last year acted strange - bouncing along the wall - I called him immediately and he said she probably had a saddled thrombous - I had her in the vets office within 15 minutes - and we didn't spare any costs in treating her. Our cats love to travel with us - when I bring in their carriers, they jump in or sit on top of them. So, we are not abusive parents SO please just try to answer questions and get off our backs on some of these issues. I wonder how many other people, who really need help, have stopped coming here for advise. And after all that, this will be my last post here.

I've never noticed a personality change with any of our cats or our one dog, whether male or female, whether weeks old or months or adult. (We've taken in 7 rescues over the years.) Our latest addition is scheduled for spaying (+ microchip while she's out) next week & we plan to keep her in a smaller space & pamper her for 2-3 days, as suggested by the vet. munkos makes a good point about bored animals picking at stitches! So far, our spayed friends have been pretty tired for a bit after surgery. Then they bounce back to normal. I've read some interestihng stats on the lifelong good health effect of spaying/neutering. Thumbs up all around, good for the cat (& dog) community, good for the individual animal. And I sure wouldn't want to deal with a cat in heat! Years ago I adopted a stray dog that had to double her weight before our vet would spay (she suffered from malnutrion) & I endured her first heat while living in Manhattan & walking her seveeral times a day. Oh my! Once we were trapped in a phone booth while I frantically called my man to come with reinforcements to rescue us. I learned there are many strays in the big city & being in heat is a powerful thing. BTW, it's easier on the animal, and less expensive, to spay before that first heat.

That's what I thought, but I'm not a cat-person, so I don't have a clue how they usually behave.
I have an unhappy housebunny that can't run loose because of the kitten.
I have the baby possum that the kitten would do horrific things to, and now (for 2 weeks) my hens in the house at night. (They sleep and are in a box--- but they sit at the gate and wait for me to bring them in --- I might not have mentioned there is some killer stalking our chickens. Whatever it is killed the big rooster, wounded a hen, then came back and killled another hen. I guess the girls are petrified to stay in the pen at night so they jump in my arms to come inside.
Must be tough to be low on the foodchain.

I think I got it fixed. I had to run some kinda of clean program.

The problem was adtomi.... there is a fix it program if anyone needs it.

I went to
Find
Files or folders
AVG gave an alert that there was a virus (yes, the virus it supposedly just deleted).
I ended up in C: drive in the bowells and after going thru nearly .exe file , I found it! After I found and deleted that one, I deleted more DO.exe files hiding.
The aftermath is till here. I have a log of 20ish things still on my start menu (They don't start because I have them unchecked .

Probably not spayed. Take it back to the vet to be sure.

Ours is doing the same thing (not the meowing, but will stick her rear in the air when pet), but from what I remember, the vet said that the cat doesn't "know" it's been fixed and that it might take a bit for her body to tell her brain this. . . . ??? Sure wouldn't hurt to double-check. . .

We have a fox running around in our back woods,,it is either Rabid or has Mange...or Distemper. It came across the road the other day,stopped and hissed at my son, and kept going out into our back yard,,and ran through a flock of my chickens...We keep seeing him now, and my husband can't seem to get that stupid gun ready in time to get him. uuuuuuugh !!!!!!!!!!!!!. Lisa, that is so funny the way your chickens jump into your arms to go into the house...oh my gosh!!!LOL
