Why you should never swim in garden ponds

I maintain a sparkling clean koi pond, but still never swim in it. It's just not safe. I have always known of the possibility of bacterial infections from swimming in ponds, but this amoeba is news to me!! This is very frightening. Please read this and check the links. It appears that this killer amoeba is on the rise and should not be taken lightly.

"According to the CDC, the amoeba called Naegleria fowleri (nuh-GLEER- ee-uh FOWL'-erh-eye) killed 23 people in the United States, from 1995 to 2004. This year health officials noticed a spike with six casesÂthree in Florida, two in Texas and one in Arizona. The CDC knows of only several hundred cases worldwide since its discovery in Australia in the 1960s."
