Weed killer...Kill my seeds?
Comments (5)My question back to you is why are you seeding your lawn? If you are having a problem and you have to re seed because your grass is dying back, find out what that problem is and corret this first. Second question, how big is your lawn? Is it possible to hold off on the granular weed killer and do some spray spot weeding? Let the new grass seed grow and spray weeds with a liquid weed killer. That way you get the nice new grass covering the large patches (assuming your seeding a large area) and a few dead spots where you sprayed. In shorter form, let the grass come in and keep the weeds in check, not eliminated. It boils down to what is eaiser and what you want....See MoreWeed Killer is Killing Grass
Comments (5)Which is why you have to water correctly (deep and infrequent) and mow low (bermuda only) to make the grass as dense as possible to fight off weeds. Or you could pull the weeds. Or you could spot spray. Make a cardboard shield to protect the real grass from the weed spray. I took a piece of shirt cardboard, drew a circle in the middle, cut it in half through the circle, and then cut out the circle. I had two pieces of cardboard with a notch in the center. Put the weed into the notch and spray it....See MoreHas Broad Leaf Weed Killer Ruined My Fire Bushes
Comments (13)@ Rose The sprayed product is not organic. If the chemical is sprayed correctly, there should be very little getting onto bushes. I can spray Roundup right next to short plants and if done carefully there is no damage to them. however, if the person spraying lifts the spray head too high or the pressure is too high the spray will drift. Also, I only spray on days where there is no wind. A wind can easily move the spray onto plants that should not be sprayed. Not sure what you mean by 'Fire Bush' but if you are talking about Euonymus alatus , then there is a good chance they will survive - these things are weeds. @ Oilpainter the statement " The only difference [between organic and inorganic] is that it [organic] does not stay in the ground like the chemical ones" is incorrect. Being organic has nothing to do with how long it takes to break down. @ Tiffy With no leaves, the roots will not be very active and are not likely to take up the Phosphate. Having enough phophaste aaround when the plant does start growing may be of some help, but then most soils have enough phosphate and you do not need to add more. If you do want to add Phosphate you would be better to use a soluable fertilizer than soap....See Moredoes anyone know if weed and grass killer
Comments (6)teeka you can get this consultation for free. In Florida the utilities companies do a free energy audit and advise on insulation. You can often get a rebate for installing insulation. Your water company will also advise on rain barrels - our local company sells wonderful rain barrels at a very low price. About pavers - the term to use is "permeable surface". Your building department can give you ideas on what materials qualify, and how to calculate your "square foot" needs. Then price your choice of materials, plus installation. Your building code allows so much of a percentage of your property to have "impermeable" covering (slab and driveway/sidewalk) Switching to permeable driveway can actually allow you to add on to your house.......See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
