Carla I wish you could have also. A few enthusiastic shoppers from the Rose Forum could have made an almighty dent in their inventory. Between Leslie's help and what they had left I got everything I wanted and more. I can't believe how glad I am we went.

I'm curious as to what a good quality rose would/should cost. We have many nurseries in this area that I'll probably try to look at, instead of the usual (box store) places I've looked at in the past.

I went a year ago and was amazed at the dedication and impact to roses Mr. Moore has contributed.

How did you make your choices? Color, size, scent, blooms?
Did you have a wish list or just pick by the plant?

I called Sequoisa yesterday and ordered 3 more roses...Sequoia Ballet; Jeanne LaJoie Climber, and Hi Ho Climber. Already had 2 Striped Rugosas coming. I almost ordered Vineyard Song, Kate. Should I have done it? What do you think? Did you see a mature bush?

Connie, had to call and ask what was available. Had a hard time getting through on the phone; it was busy all afternoon but I finally made it. Wanted Rainforest and Condoleeza but they were sold out.

I actually agonized long about which ones I wanted a while ago. Those are the ones that my friend who lives nearby set aside for me at her house. Everything else was gravy as far as I was concerned. I chose them based on if it had at one time been on my little obsession list for Moore roses (like Dresden Doll and Tangerine Jewel), if they were reputed to be good growers (like Green Ice and Buttermint) and if on visual inspection it looked nice. Which nearly all did. I really don't worry about size or scent. I'm looking for the flower and even bought a couple that were not my first choice in colors just for fun. Furthermore if you can talk to Carolyn at the nursery and kind of tell your criteria she is a savant when it comes to Moore Roses. No one seems to know more except the Mr. Moore himself.

Terry: I think at this point any roses that you order from the nursery will be money well spent. Maybe Leslie or Jeri will chime in as they are both familiar with a lot of their roses and has much more growing experience with them than I do. I did see several mature plants but since we are just a little before flowering time and the more grown bushes were planted and not for sale I'm afraid I don't know which was which.

Like Terry said you will have to call. Also you can email and Carolyn promptly answered many of my questions via email. When we were there she was alone with Mr. Moore taking care of everyone and I did not see her pause for even a moment. If you do email you can leave your phone number and have her call you back.

Hope this helps. My motto at this point is if you are even mildly interested in one of their roses go for it.

You lucky girl you!!! Wish they were closer so I could visit them too. Thanks to your slide show I kinda feel as if I did visit them. Isn't he just precious!! I so glad you got to get all the roses you wanted and then some. I ordered tangerine jewel from them last year late in the year and it did bloom a couple times before it turned cold but it was a beautiful bloom. Can't wait for it to grow and bloom this year. I ordered quite a few last year but at the moment my brain is asleep and doesn't want to be used anymore tonite. Your slideshow was great. Was it your first time doing it and how easy was it? Thanks for sharing your fun weekend and give that sweet dh a pat on the back for taking you. I have a sweet dh too that carries me around on trip after trip to feed my flower obsession. You are very kind about my slideshow. I dare say I had a couple in there twice and was kind of bumbling along putting it together this morning. My next one should be a bit tidier. Conveyed the basic information though and I really wanted to share that with everyone.

Unfortunately they are out of quite a few of the roses on the Supplemental List. I'd wanted another three International Herald Tribune or Raymond Privat but they were out of both, and quite a few other roses I inquired about on a previous occasion. Carolyn did say they had many roses left, so it all depends on what you're interested in. (I did end up ordering three Heinrich Karsch).

Are you sure you don't have a sister from Montana Kate? Perhaps not, Deb would have gotten 2 dozen for us and more for friends :) Starina has been one of my favorites since we got her in 2001. Starina deserves her spot in the Mini Hall of Fame.

I'm sorry to hear they did not/don't have what you were after. However I do know that I first called in January and had some trouble getting what I wanted at that time. Since then they did bring out many rooted cuttings creating more inventory. Just saying that if you really had your heart set on something a phone call might be in order.

Dave I wish Deb and I were cut from the same cloth. Perhaps I would be more successful with some of the struggles I've had in the garden:)

I placed an order off the supplemental list monday and had no trouble getting through. I made a long list of what i wanted and what i would settle for in case they didn't have some of them. It was probably caroline i talked to but she immediately knew what they had and how many, maybe half from my list they didn't have. But i am happy to say that the rose i really wanted and that they had was in stock, sunshine, and they even had 3 so i bought them.
