Thank you both for your experience and suggestions. I removed all, but a few clusters of berries\blossoms (for the novelty of tasting a handful of berries) as well as added ammonium sulphate in solution to all varieties of blueberry in my yard. The Jersey ones are leafy as can be, but the plants were just tiny sticks a year ago. The Elliot was probably already aged at least a year when I bought it last summer, so it has thrown me off on what to expect. Now that I know what to expect and have removed the fruits I hope Elliot will focus on leaf and root development to maybe provide a better bounty in a year or two. The Elliot gets the most sun out of the two varieties whereas the Jerseys are shaded by the stockade fence til just after noon until the sun passes behind my neighbor's house to the west around 6pm.

i am not familiar with this... but thought to myself.. scent varies over the season ... by late fall.. the leaves can be thick and leathery ... and not quite as fragrant as new shoots in spring ... so you got one good sniffer.. if you can define the scent.. with as much specificity as you did ...... but try again.. in spring ... if it should be IDd as such.. and worth keeping.. ken

Bluegirl, I can highly recommend Forestfarm. Last year I bought R. webbiana and some other plants, and I'm very pleased. I have R. eglanteria and 5 other species roses coming from FF in October. Their selection of species is excellent! Scented leaved roses I already have are the 2 eglantines Manning's Blush and Light Pink Eglantine from the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden (both have strongly-scented leaves, of apples), plus Grandmother's Hat (leaves smell like cedar, and I planted mine next to my cedar tree), Polareis (this rugosa is quite unusual, it isn't the leaves that are scented but rather the unopened buds, the fragrance of which is POWERFUL, of a tropical fruit that I can't place, but the scent in strong enough to linger in the sinuses after smelling the buds), R. fedtschenkoana (leaves smell of pine), R. primula (I detect a citrusy note in its famed incense scent), Rene d'Anjou (geraniums with a hint of cedar), William's Double Yellow (something resinous). I have both Reine des Violettes and a new band of Mrs. Doreen Pike, thanks for the heads up Hardy and Cath, I'll check them out. Melissa
