How did I miss Quinces and Persimmons?

Hey all,

New experience for me in the last couple weeks....

#1 is eating real fully ripe persimmons.... The American wild sort... They taste like an acorn until they are shrively and squishy.... Then, they turn into the most amazing, flavorful fruit -- almost like Honey on dates!

#2 is Quince.... Once again, Very fragrant, but quite astringent until fully ripe/mushy and you gotta strain out all the grit.... I think this one is some sort of flowering quince -- small 1" size and brown... but holy cow.... What a Flavor! Like Apples on steroids! Fragrant and amazing!

Gotta go buy a couple of these this spring....

I am going to be spiking my apple cider this year with Quince juice.....

What other sorts of "Secret" fruits have I been missing out on?
