Onion grass, I think. Allium Canadense (or maybe A. vineale?)

Thanks for that. If this is onion grass, it is mixed in with the bright green grass. The majority of it looks almost like a brighter green rough kentucky bluegrass. That's why I thought poa triv. Not all of it looks like the onion grass. Do you think the bright green grass patch is anything to worry about? It definitely sticks out and grows faster than the KBG and whatever else is there, even if the pics don't show it good.

Does the bright green grass have triangular stems? If so, it could be yellow nutsedge.

No, it's not triangular. It's more like a little flatter and taller than the boat shape kbg. I asked the lady at the nursery if it's anything to worry. She said it's probably just new grass that was mixed in with the seed. But what kind of kentucky bluegrass would look this bright green? I've patched up partial renovation on another part of my lawn and it came in much darker than that and did not sprout that fast. The bag I used had some wildhorse kbg, would that be a bright green at first and eventually turn darker as it matures?
I attached another picture, and I will pull some out from the root and get a closer shot. Its actually in a few other places in the lawn in very small patches. I really don't know.
The only reason I was inquiring was because my lawn is finally an okay looking lawn. It's uniform, no big dead spots or anything, some weeds, this is the worst spot of my lawn behind the tree. I just don't want this patch taking over half the lawn. It seems to have spread fast.

The pictures really do not show the true lawn. The color looks very washed out. The lawn looks much darker green 95% of it with a slight blue hue, and that bright spot looks brighter green in person.

Should I maybe spray this with a selective herbicide and see what happens? It's sort of hidden behind the tree, so even if it kills it, I could always try a late reseed of more kgb in that whole spot.

Looks a lot like Ryegrass a common addition to grass-seed mixtures.

isnt the rye usually the annual part of the mix ... some instant color to tide you over until the perennial takes hold ...

i am too sick to check my own thought.. mock me if you must..

and i like your USELESS comments.. a lot of the lawn warrior stuff is pure marketing ...

frankly.. your lawn doenst look like it need overseeding ... what you got there needs fertilizing.. [and you if you knew me.. i rarely suggest more fert] ..... which would cause it to multiply thru underground runners... rather than the harder work of trying to grow more... new .. from seed ...

my first thought.. lol.. was to refer you to the 4 bag scotts system.. but that is more marketing hype.. lol ...

any chance you might pay to have this lawn professionally fed next year... to grow a lush carpet.. which you can then maintain afterwards????? .. you have probably already spent the first application on seed and stuff ..???? .. let them perfect your lawn.. and then you learn how to maintain it

I know, I have been neglecting on the fert. I am making up for that now with a bag of milo. I have saved multiple thousands of dollars by not using a pro. The pro's around here rip you off. Actually, the last lawn people I used might've been throwing down contractor mix seed.So that could explain the rye. But that was years ago. Can rye be that green-yellowish color?

I'm not very experienced with this, so I will take any suggestions I can. I overseeded to get a thicker lawn, and more blue color. I wanted a better performing bluegrass mixed in. I put down a supposed "Sod quality" seed from local kbg. The scotts stuff actually comes up ok but dies very easily. To be fair, we had a pretty brutal heat wave in early summer. However, the scotts tb lawn soil is a huge waste as a top dressing. The guy at HD said it was very popular and great for overseeding/top dressing - it's not. I think it actually did more harm than good and cost $6 a bag.
