The plants will be very very small. Think of it as a learning experience.

I usally do most of my plantings from seeds. So what I've learned that is that I just saved the germination time that these plants would have taken to germinate. Thanks for pointing that out.

8.50 is a lot from one plant

I burst out laughing automatically. That is the amateur gardener's baptism by fire. Know any who haven't fallen for it?..............but they only do once.

Michigan Bulb is the worst nursery in the country. It's driven more gardeners out of gardening than frost, blight, drought, floods, or insect plagues. It's amazing that they're still in business.

(over 40?) since I first got burned by Michigan Bulb Company. . .with all the bad
press they now get online, it truly IS amazing that they're still around.

Let's put it this way...you get what you pay for and with the case of Michigan Bulb, it's not much. $8.50 for 17 plants is ridiculous and should tell you volumes about the size and quality of the plants you'll be receiving. And don't expect much in the way of follow-up customer service if you have issues.......and you will. Blowing $8.50 is unlikely to put anyone in the poorhouse but it's still $8.50 that could be put to better use.

Good luck with it. Michigan Bulbs is the worst company in the business. And once you order, you are on their mailing list for life.

Come spring, any good nursery will be able to supply plants like these (and many other perennials and annuals that attract butterflies). You'll have the advantage of picking out healthy, good-sized plants, getting a jump on establishing growth and bloom, plus saving all that time you otherwise might spend disputing the quality of the minis you get from MI Bulb and waiting for them to mail replacements (based on the experiences many of their customers report).

Yes, Michigan Bulb Company is where I sent for my "100 Privet Hedge for $25", back in 1979. What I got was a bundle of bare rooted STICKS 6" to 1' each! Was there a hundred in the bundle, I don't remember counting them; but I do remember my Mom and I planting all those little sticks all the way down my property line. Sometimes putting two in a hole because they were so small.

However, today the hedge is huge albeit old and still puts out new growth every year. I haven't ordered from them since that I can remember. Plus they give fantastic, imaginary names for plants/flowers that most gardeners know is not the true names. Can't understand why people fall for that.

Many years ago I ordered PINK tulips. they were all yellow and red.
A few years later a friend talked me into going halvsies on an order of shrubs. I gave in.lol. we were so disappointed in the size of the sticks. How ever one of the sticks lived and I now have a lovely spirea.
I also got a flier from them on reblooming lilacs. I almost fell for the picture again. I didn't. I'd rather pay the local nurseries price and actually get a plant.
I'm sure many, many people have had great experiences with them or they wouldn't still be in business. Just my 2cents
