Hardy lime seed protocol and deciduous azalea source

I have just collected about .5 lb of seed from Poncirus Trifoliata. I am inclined to sow it immediatly in flats outdoors and transplant the seedlings in the spring. Can anyone tell me if this is a valid plan/ will the seedlings need winter protection? I have not tried this seed before. I know and enjoy the plant.

I am also anxious to start some deciduous azaleas from seed. They could be natives or hybrids such as Exbury. Does anyone have sources and protocols for these?
