Kaye of Arkansas had a birthday...

Luckily my card should have gotten their in time. I've searched the back pages hoping someone else remembered so now it is up to me tugging my forelock and dragging my toes in the dirt to wish my dear friend a superb post birthday and a healthy, happy year. You are one of the best and most generous people I've met here and your garden is a work of splender. Norm and I will never forget our happy time there and the night we shot the moon and starlight and roses. Happy Birthday.

Oh, for shame that we were unaware it was Kaye's birthday, our Arkansas Rose. I hang my head in shame for not paying close attention and salute you, Luanne, for bringing it to our attention. One of the smartest, wisest and nicest gardeners, she is willing to share the secrets to her success, cuttings of roses from days goneby, or anything she has that you might need, that she can spare. What a real prize this Rose named Kaye is.

I hope you had the happiest birthday ever and that your year will be filled with happiness to include a wonderful garden, much love and health throughout the year for you and all of yours.

Pat, the clematis is Florida Sieboldi. Did you ever find the Artic Queen that Jimmy loved? Oh, Vintage has Dickson's Red on sale.... We actually had a couple of inches of rain last week. I was delighted to see it even if it was far from being enough to make a dent in our drought. We were just elevated to exceptional and water restrictions are looming. Ok, my trunk is packed with plants and I am ready to head for Arkansas in the morning. Hope you all won't be too disappointed in the size of them...I didn't know I was going until a week ago. I dug some sprouts of Tuscany Superb...kept them in the shade to recover from such evil treatment, but they still look a bit disgusted with me. Most everything I had to bring is very young/small, but I know that all you good people are handy with plants and can baby sit as well as I can. ;O) A forum member sent me some cuttings of Cramoisi Superieur around late Feb to early March...can't remember that far back...they all rooted, so I have too many...they need to get back to a better zone for them. As I said...you'll be baby sitting, but I've been pinching buds, so they are well on their way. I'll try to keep mine alive in a pot that can be moved inside the garage or greenhouse.

Oh, Luanne! You posted that picture and I had to face reality. I've aged so in the past few years..and I still wear that T-shirt!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I treasure all my rose friends and the happy times I've spent with many in person and online.

Ron and I are doing well. He's already been tilling the veggie garden and starting seedlings in the kitchen windows. The rose garden is looking good. We had a mild winter but a bit dry. The roses are almost all pruned and the tulip magnolias and redbuds are blooming..spring is almost here. I'm dividing my time with weed pulling, getting ready for several OGR talks in my area and some garden tours here.

Hopefully, spring will be good this year and I'll have lots of pictures to share. Thanks to all of you again!

Kaye people always look beautiful when they are sniffing their roses. I'm recalling Ron saying that this was the best picture you ever took. Bet I could come to Arkansas and get another one just as beautiful. At least we're not roses, looking pretty shabby after 3 weeks...
