First one looks like mandevilla

Second one is Combretum indicum aka Quisqualis indica aka Rangoon Creeper.

Positive ID on #2.... Still unsure about #1, though.... I did a search for Mandevilla both on the web & the garden's plant database and none of the Mandevilla blooms match. The flower structure is CLOSE, but the foliage is off --- I couldn't find any Mandevilla with that dark purplish foliage & stems like the one in the picture. Nor could I find any Mandevilla berry shots as seen in the photo above.

Any other possibilities for #1?

Are you certain that the flower and the berries in picture one are on the same plant? The bloom does look like Mandevilla whereas the pink buds and berries appear to come from a vertically held raceme of smaller flowers. There are two types of leaves in the picture too. Dark reddish as you say and also green top left.

I agree that the foliage behind is from another plant, but I think it is a Mandevilla...a fairly new one called Cherries Jubilee. This is a picture I snagged from the internet...looks almost identical, including the floral parts in the center.

Alrighty... I will defer to those who know better. It is VERY likely that the dark foliage and berries belong to a diff't plant. Confusing because the photographed flower was the only one -- no other buds or anything. I really should post these closer to when I shot them...
