Comments (2)twice I found dragonfly nymphs clamped on to small goldfish; haven't felt the same way about dragonflies ever since. (the fish died) On the other hand, now that I have so many goldfish, maybe I need MORE dragonflies......See MoreMosquito Dunks or Hydrogen Peroxide to kill Gnats?

Comments (28)Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately I use everything so far that has been mentioned- sticky traps, vacuum, fans, area around plants is clean, no standing water- I spray the drainage holes with BTI too. One thing to mention to everyone is, that if you did not know, mosquito bits are just another form of BTI. So by using mosquito bits I'm only going to use a different form of this same stuff I've been using for the last month. Gnatrol is BTI too. Thomas I don't have any around the house or in windows. I think if you have those they are really fruit flies as the fungus gnats stay very close to the plant itself. I'm ready to just repot everything (54 plants!) and use gritty mix as I think that might help! Nancy...See MoreMosquito Dunks!
Comments (9)Another thing I do is allow spiders webs to stay on top of the bromeliads that seem to collect water, especially in the summer. I might clear the spider webs away in the winter, however. We also have a lot of hummingbirds all year, and I think they eat mosquitoes. The hummers like a lot of my tall blooming bromeliads as well. I have one hummingbird feeder, and I have to fill it more often in the winter, when there are fewer flowers, to keep the hummers around. I've not noticed midges, possibly because I am surrounded by desert, and I do not think they live around here....See Morehoovb zone 9 sunset 23
