Thank you so much! I took a leaf and pictures to a local garden center but they didn't know what it was- yay for you. We tried transplanting some into my yard - not looking so great at the moment but I do like the taste. Made a great lemon green smoothie! Do you have a picture of yours? Where did you get your plant? Does it survive the Chicago winter? Beautiful garden!

Well, rats! The blooms just opened on mine, and they are H. Johnsonii!! They were off by themselves and perhaps the neighbor didn't realize this. Will go by today and see if they have other HJ in the bed. If not, will convince(!)them that they need to take this one back and give me some of the above! :-/ Kristi

@ Garden Graphic Gal-- Thank you for the link, that's what I was looking for. My neighbor is "not" a gardener, she says she can't grow dirt but she does love having tea with me in the middle of my garden and she has helped me pull weeds before. She purchased the rose for me because she wanted to do something nice, knows I love my gardening and said I didn't have any roses. One question that has now come up is that if it has been sitting in the original package for 3 weeks with nothing done to it, will it still grow? I didn't mean for it to happen, but I have been out of town for 2 weeks taking care of legal business and the death of my best friend in another part of the state and the bare root rose is still on the shelf in the garage. Will it still work if I soak it and get it in the ground this week? Dora @bagsmom - I am not opposed to using Bayer all in one if it works well. Right now, I need effective and simple. Thanks for the tip :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Not sure which direction I'm headed yet, but all of you have given me ideas to consider. Got a smile out of the "coupon" suggestion. First thing that came to mind was a hundred "Get your puppy out of my yard NOW" vouchers. I had a few other thoughts, but sharing them would give away just how bad of a neighbor I am. dcarch - What's HF and where do I get their coupons? 800W sounds perfect for keeping the Christmas lights lit in the case of a power failure during the holidays. For just $86, not much to lose. John - Lost power to the whole house. The cable line survived. (Other side of the house.) Ext cord from neighbor's house kept bare essentials powered up for the most part, probably didn't run my 5K generator much more than five hours total throughout the ordeal. (The generator is another thank-you I need to deal with. It was given to my cousin by a customer a couple days before the storm, cousin had no use for it and gave it to me.) Anyway I'm back and running as of a few hours ago. I smiled when for the first time in six days the bathroom light actually turned on when I flipped the switch!
