likely cause of otto luyken yellow leaves?

Friends, planted 4 Otto Luykens about a week ago - when I bought them they had some yellow inner leaves at the nursery. Probably because of where I have them planted (on the top of a slope), these leaves are more noticeable than at the nursery but I do not think they are getting worse. Was wondering what the likely cause of the yellow leaves is?

I am watering them every day as it has recently gotten hot (70+) here in NY. I used some bone meal when planting, but no other fertilizer. Think I should put some 10-10-10 in them?

Thanks!
