No, I haven't fermented seeds. I have permitted the hips to rot off rose seeds, which, supposedly inhibits germination according to everything I'd read in old rose books. In my climate, because I can safely, successfully plant rose seeds most of the year without any weather damage (extreme heat, extreme cold, etc.) I just shell and plant or shell and hold them in clean, uncovered baby food jars in the house until I plant them. Can fermenting them to clean them hurt? Probably not. It seems a good experiment to determine if fermenting them will assist in germination. Are you planting a control group of the same seeds to determine whether fermentation affects germination? Supposedly, keeping the seeds damp prior to planting assists germination as it prevents the seed coat from hardening, which would then require a longer period of being damp to allow the two halves to split and the embryo to emerge.
