Full StoryHello there,
I am hoping for a bit of advice.
I have a small viburnum x burkwoodii 'Mohawk' that is about 3' tall now, and I realized that it has been damaged near the base by the weed whacker. Unfortunately, my young lawn care helper was trying to whack a weed that got in there before I was able to stop him ... so there is a bit of bark missing near the bottom of the main stem. It's not a huge area, but I wondered if there is anything I should do for the shrub, besides making sure the weed whacker doesn't get near it ? Will this affect the shrub's growth and health, or do they recover easily on their own ?
Also, I have noticed from various sites that the ultimate height/spread is listed as 8'x 10' for this viburnum. Has anyone had this shrub for a length of time to know if this is accurate ? I would actually like to see it get that big, so I just wondered.
Finally, is it advantageous to prune this shrub at all to encourage fuller growth, or is it best left to itself ?
