Help! Variegated monster plant devouring my jackfruit tree!

Please help me ID this monster plant...

{{gwi:326959}}
The plant seems to have both large 'strangling' roots and small, 'millipede'-like roots when attaching itself to my jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) tree.

The roots of this climbing plant are all over the trunk of my jackfruit tree.

{{gwi:326961}}
This plant seems to have 'aerial' roots which crawl down to the soil.

I am not sure if the plant can be considered an epiphyte... Perhaps a hemi-epiphyte?

{{gwi:326962}}
This variegated plant seems to be growing 'bigger' and 'fatter' by the day with lots more 'strangling' roots and alarmingly bigger leaves each and everyday! Should I be worried? Is this one of those 'killer' photosynthetic plants? How do I kill this plant? Will uprooting it be enough or do I have to remove everything all the way to the top?

Thanks.
