green pea soup water in new pond

Just recent started up a new 3800 gal pond and I now have green pea soup water. First thing is that this is our first pond. I have epdm liner, 5800 gal cal pump, 8" altanic skimmer with the pump in the skimmer, half a whiskey barrel setup like a skippy filter and a altanic 1250 waterfall box. I filled the pond up with a firetruck that had some rust in the water. I used the inside of a pillow to get the rust out of the water which done great. Clean the rust out of the whiskey barrel pads and then the water turn green. I have put the microbe-lift bacteria in the pond twice. The pond is in full sun with no shade. I have three water lettuces, twenty five water hyanicths,5 snails, and sixteen four inch gold fish. My question is what to do next or to do nothing at all. I have thought about putting a uv light in the pond but don't want to if I don't have to. I do not want to use chemicals. So is patience the answer or what. REALLY ENJOY THE WEB SITE, LOT OF GOOD INFORMATION.
