Rose orders: which rose are you most looking forward to receiving
Comments (27)Funny you should say that you expect most people to say, "all of them"; that's exactly what I was thinking. Ok. If I have to narrow it down a bit, I think the roses I'm most excited about getting are Eugenie Guinoisseau (I've been wanting a moss and this is the one I'm trying), Lullaby (sounds beautiful), Madame Cornelissen (been looking forward to this one for a while), and Duchesse de Grammont(been wanting this one for who knows how long). How's that for a narrowed list? I didn't even include Adam, Madame Wagram or Anne Marie de Montravel all of which I'm very excited about. There are more but I'm really trying to keep with the spirit of the original post....See Moremost stable floriferous red ,orange or red orange echinacea
Comments (3)Thanks. Your list was right after my post and I thought "my question's answered already." Over the last two years Sunrise and Sunset completely disappeared. "Magnus" will never die. But Harvest Moon has returned reliably despite its quills. I can't get rid of plant that has such a will to live....See MoreMost graceful rose; most awkward plant??
Comments (18)When Rhapsody in Blue came out, we all rushed to get one - such a deep purple (not even the most deluded fan could claim it was blue). Lovely blooms, even relatively healthy, but oh, its habit of growth - perfectly hideous. Angular bare branches swoop out at bizarre unpredictable angles, more branches decide to die off almost overnight, stiffly awkward, like a sulky adolescent (and I have had my fair share of them). Banished, to the compost, especially after Peter James built on Cowlishaw's work to raise Blue for You (although the 2 roses are not related afaik). Still one of the nearest approximations of blue.....but sadly, its other defects preclude it from a place in my garden (although I do vicariously enjoy the wayward canes which flail about over my wall from next door)....See MoreNavel Orange just dropped all blooms and most fruitlets
Comments (3)Kristi, I was browsing through a citrus book and checked Washington Navels..It said, navels are suscepible to changes in the weather, which can cause fruit and blossom drop as well as fruit splitting. Since their maturing charts reads from Oct-Aug, yours should rebloom and fruit this year. Briteleaf Citrus site reads, harvest time is Nov-Jan. Temps change often. It was in the 70's Thurs, rained at night, then dropped in the 40's. Yesterday was terrible, cold and gloomy. Today 70's and sunny. I've brought 4 plants outside, a citrus, Key Lime, 3 other tropicals. Gardenia, ZZ and Geraniums (several years old) If it drops under 40 all have to come in. It's still too early to set plants outside in IL. I'm hoping it warms up. No, genre. I should have written, hopefulreader. LOL. When we first got our puter, they asked for a screen name. I went through numerous names, all were taken. As a joke I typed in hopefulauthor, of course it went through. We had no idea how to change it, so it stuck. The reason I should have typed in hopefulreader is because I'm always looking for something to read..mostly mystery and suspense, some non-fiction, including plant books. Before the internet, I'd sometimes read two novels in a day. LOL. I dabbled writing in the 90's, completed a horror manuscript. But I'm no Steven King. I wish. LOL. Anyway, I bet your Navel blooms again. Set in a bright spot, the sunniest. You know the rest. Toni...See Morejerijen
