Too many seeds in peat pots?

I think I may have goofed by putting multiple seeds in my peat pots, particularly w/ my loose leaf lettuce, basil and thyme. I have had nice growth, up to probably three inches so far, but so many sprouts the poor things look like chiapets!

Can anyone provide guidance on what I should do?

Also, some appear to be getting root bound already even though they don't necessarily resemble plants yet. I am really lost on the next step since this is my first time growing from seed.

Eventually, the plants will go into containers on my deck, and I think the lettuce can tolerate the early spring weather better than the others, but it seems too soon to transplant. Is an interim container appropriate or should I keep the peat pots going in the trays.

Please help; I feel in over my head!
