Evergreen native shrub for full sun?

I would like to plant a broadleaf evergreen shrub in front of our house, 7-8' tall (width up to 7-8'), native to our area (just east of Atlanta) that will do well in full afternoon sun. If it also produces flowers, that would be bonus. The flower color is not especially important. I prefer mostly white, but it really doesn't matter.

I thought there might be a variety of mountain laurel that would work, but I have read conflicting info: some sources say they need shade, others say that full sun is great.

Does it depend on the variety or where I live?

Is there another evergreen that fits my criteria?

Thank you for your help!!
