peat pellets roots are growing through

Hi,

I checked the archives and found the recent warning about removing the netting from pellets before transplanting. My problems is that with many of my pellets, the roots are growing through the netting and the weather is not ready for transplanting outside. I had really hoped to go right from the peat pellet stage to the ground (or outdoor planter) I don't want to spend time/energy/money transplanting (please comment if transplanting is simply a necessary step - I have many plants in 72 cell packs also). Since these roots are growing through and all over the place (I'm afraid they will start twisting up with each other) must I transplant them into a larger container? Will it hurt the roots and the plant if they are outside the peat pellet?

Thank you!
