I just searched it and also found out that it is a noxious weed in some areas. My neighbors plants got very tall last fall and they were just beautiful with the pink blooms. What a disapointment really. Will need to decide if I want to keep it or not. Thanks to both of you! This mystery is finally solved!

Glad to help. For future reference, to kill something thickly woody like an old grape vine or a small tree or shrub, cut it to ground level. Get some Glysophate (generic Roundup) that hasn't been diluted. Use it undiluted (as for shrubs on the label) with a foam paint brush or a well-labeled squeeze bottle and thoroughly paint the part of the cut surface that is just under the bark where the tree's or vine's xylem and phloem/vascular system is. It may resprout a couple of times, though it doesn't always, but if it does just break off the sprouts and paint that surface with Glysophate. That way you avoid having to worry about overspray of herbicide, especially in a densely planted garden.

Did you know Chelone will root from flopped stems? I didn't, but was going to stake a couple of stems that had fallen over and discovered one had put down roots. I am thrilled. I like yours with the allium. I put allium like those in pots this spring and planned to planned them. My Chelone is in shade, so I don't think I can copy your combination. :-(

summer flush of leaves can appear wonky.. especially in hard summers ... if i saw something like this.. regardless of the type of plant.. i would think to myself i ought to check back in mid to late sept.. to see what came of it all .. and odds are.. i would never think of it again ... lol ... unless it was so bad it caught my eye again during fall cleanup ... and then id think.. i better remember to look at this again in late spring... and odds are again.. i would not remember .... .. lol .. it would either be dead.. or just fine ... and if it was dead.. good riddance.. i dont need your BS in my garden ... yeah.. rely on your memory ... it works for me .. because im not doing anything about it regardless ... ken
