one might suspect.. that if they are growing all over the trees in the forest.. that they have some invasive qualities.. and perhaps you might not want to be bringing such potential monsters into your garden ...
free is not always a good thing...
compare with autumn sweet clematis.. at link... and read up on invasiveness...
mine just started blooming here in MI ... so that MIGHT rule out such for you.. since.. well.. its leaves dont match.. lol ... nor its flowering period.. my point.. apparently if i have one.. lol .. is that not all free things are good.. [ok../ i am done entertaining myself...]
you need a definitive latin name ...
sometimes i wonder if i shouldnt just hit delete.. lol
I do not believe it's terniflora which does not appear on the distribution map for Montana or anywhere near it. There are many small white- flowered Clematis. I suspect it's a western species, Clematis ligusticifolia.
Thank you both for your input. And thanks for not mentioning that my picture was sideways. I posted on my smart phone, and, apparently, I could not tell it was sideways. Carol, I think you are right on! I live right on the highway, and I did think (Ken you were right on about the "free") I would utilize what I had to make a nice screen. There isn't anything around it, except the utility fencing I put up. I am impressed with the combined knowledge. Thanks!
