Do Koi eat more than goldfish?

Last year I bought two koi for my pond which had up until then only wakins, shubunkins and comets. One of the koi didn't make it through the winter as couldn't find it when moved fish indoors. This year I bought another koi which was about 6" long. He/she is doing great has grown at least an inch if not more in the month it's been in the pond. This fish is a voracious eater! I think I might call her Miss Piggy as she's always the first one there when I feed the fish. She just opens her mouth and scoops the food up. The other fish have to be fast to get any food. Also is quite friendly and will nibble--more like bite our fingers if we shake them in the water. Is the fish hungry or are koi bigger eaters than goldfish?
