anyone growing sdlm in northern coastal ca

I always give my mother in law a potted rose for mother's day. She has no old roses and I'd like to give her this one because it is beautiful. fragrant and not a huge grower. Just wondering if anyone grows it in the bay area. I wonder if it will just be a balled mess for her?

If so, would Madame Isaac Pereire work?

All her roses do well enough --though she is challenged for space: occasionally she has rust (we actually got rid of it by trimming the worst off, then washing the roses with soda/milk and soap formula then power spraying the deck they live on. Didn't come back the rest of the season (that was in May)
No black spot - probably as she is on the water in a big marina complex so there is no dirt or other plants to innoculate her roses.
Her roses grow on the decks leading down to their slip and the buildings are modern with large windows reflecting the western sun.
