Orchid126: what an elegantly simple solution! Done! When I slipped the orchid out of the pot, I found the medium very much broken down and the remaining bark very wet. The medium was almost like potting soil; some roots were starting to rot. Having done this before bedtime last night, I left the orchid out on newspaper so the roots could dry. I discarded most of the original medium and soaked new bark fir in a solution that included SuperThrive for about half an hour. After draining this, I left the medium in an open plastic bag overnight so it could partially dry out. This morning, the catt went into a clear plastic pot with one of those cone indentations that help aerate the roots. I appreciate such a sensible suggestion and only hope the catt that's blooming right now doesn't have roots starting to croak.

"I hope the gasket isn't gone that quickly!" I doubt that's it. However, if it is, it's cheap and easy to fix. I know you're distressed about this leak. However, I have no doubt at all that its a simple problem with an inexpensive fix. You don't need a plumber. You need a DW tech. -- someone who understands the machine. I don't get "door leak" expensive-fix comment from bluekitobsessed unless they're talking about replaceing the entire door. Something's missing there.

I had a conversation with a local pro, and he believes adding a mixing valve and turning the aquastat up from 100* to something like 140* will do wonders. He said it's normal in any water heater to have much higher temps at the top and lower at the bottom, with the average around the aquastat setting, meaning we have ours turned way down. I'll give that a try. On the DHW priority wiring, I'm having a little difficulty finding straightforward info. Most diagrams/discussions include so many references to controllers and various models of components that I can't tell what the basic schematic should be. Here is my current setup:We have a single circ pump controlled by the boiler control. I just learned that the "DHW End Switch" terminal in my boiler goes to the HydroStat controller and only bypasses the thermal targeting in order to get full power from the boiler during DHW demand. My plan now is to simply add a DPDT relay (in red below) with the coil powered by the aquastat, that disconnects the signal to the two heating zone valves from their thermostats. This will will close those valves while the DHW is heating and create the priority setup. Anyone see any problems with this setup?

I have the water heater completely disconnected and hoses running from the pipes sticking out of the wall. The hoses run down into the washing machine. When I turn the main water line on water comes out both pipes at the same pressure. This has nothing to do with a water heater. Since the pipes are inside the wall I cannot check them for a crossover pipe. The last water heater was in 2012 and I don't remember having any problems with that tank type heater. In 2012 I added a tankless water heater and it never worked right. So I decided that I wanted to change back to a tank water heater. As a test and trying to remember which line coming out of the wall was the inlet, I put hoses on it and put them down in the washing machine and turn the water on to see which one produce the Water. Surprise, they both shooting water at the same high pressure. There is the problem.
