Just saw this post today & happen to live in NLV. The tree with the yellow flowers is a Palo Verde. VERY messy & impossible to kill. It will drop long pine needle like leaves everywhere. There is a Desert Museum variety of the Palo Verde which is the only one I can from experience recommend planting. The other Butterfly Bush looking one is a Chaste Tree. Very nice (deciduous) tree. African Sumac...Sumac think poison ivy - another terrible tree that happens to do well in the desert & is very messy also. Hope this helps.

Mint family has square stems. You can note that by rolling them between finger and thumb - kinda like a pencil, 'cept pencils aren't usually square. I'm thinking that you've discovered a catnip plant. Lots of those in older neighborhoods where I live but I'm not in Colorado. Fragrance is kinda minty and not unpleasant. Catnip makes darn good herb tea. Plantladyco is talking about mint family plants with licorice fragrance. How 'bout that? I'm not really familiar with hyssop altho' agastache is sometimes called anise hyssop and I've had that for years. I suppose there's a chance that it's monarda but I wouldn't really think so. And there are just "tons" of mints including calamintha and other nepeta. Seems like calamintha has a rather strange eucaplyptus-like smell (bell not quite ringing). Anyway, try google images. Hi Samantha, Very pretty pics. The first and third are azaleas and the second is a camelia. I don't grow them but there's lots of care information on the web. I'm sure someone on this forum will respond with excellent advice. It's great that you want to nurture them as many renters wouldn't take the time or effort to do so. Rhonda
