Name That Plant!

Help to ID flowering (red) plant

Hello :)

I purchased this plant about 2 weeks ago from a local garden center that had it incorrectly labeled as a Mexican Petunia (I knew it was incorrect at the time).

When I first bought it, it was about half the size it is now with just two blooms and looked scraggly. I fell for the Charlie Brown Syndrome, and bought it since it was inexpensive. Now it is planted in a pot with full to part sun and plenty of water, and it has really started growing!

Can anyone identify this plant? (I live in zone 10.)

Actually, it is a Ruellia, aka Mexican Petunia.
I believe it's Ruellia coccinea.

I was thrown off since the label said Ruellia brittoniana...

If "over here" = east of the Cascades check soil and water suitablility, if no montbretias (Crocosmia crocosmiiflora) being seen over there that could be a red flag--they tend to be common where adapted*, as they are prolific and easily grown for the most part (rather heavy damage from mites is often seen on them during our dry midsummer conditions in Seattle area). And the hybrid 'Lucifer' is also prevalent, it may be significant that you saw it all over on your trip but not where you live.
