On impulse one day, I bent down and "scratched" a speckled toad behind the ear with my forefinger, and he actually leaned into it. I have to assume he enjoyed it. ;-)

I hand feed a green frog for two years. I would stop at the bait shop for a variety of worms and bugs to feed him. I also purchased crickets from a pet store, but they were often very lively and many got away from me and the frog.

He left a few years ago and others have taken his' place at the pond, but I haven't met any as friendly as he was. I guess they all have their own personality.

I have three, no green frogs but just regular toads. They are all very docile and will let you pet them, pick them up, but I havent tried to feed them.. My wife hates them as they make the loudest chirping everynight as soon as the sun goes down.. I like the noise and the bugs they eat around my pond.. This is the first year I have had them come and stay.. most come and go but these guys have been around now for months..

Thats cool. Mine run away when I approach them. It would be neat to have one I could pet and feed.

That's an old wise tale about warts, but if she kisses the frog he will definitely turn into a prince. LOL

I used to pick up my bullfrogs when they were in the pond by scooping them up from underneath. They would stay on my hand out of the water as long as I didn't move my hand around too much. They don't like me reaching for them from the front or back though as I think they see that as a threatening posture. But, if you can get close to them on the side of the pond, maybe while you are bending or crouching down, try the under the water hand slide move and see if they wil left you lift them out of the water. The more you toss food to them the more they like you. I used to feed my frogs lots of crickets and some became quite the beggers. I would keep the crickets in one of those plastic hermit crab cages and set it next to my chair between tossing them out. The frogs would all gather round and some would get impatient and come up and try to grab at them through the plastic cage. When I had six big bullfrogs they could eat 100 crickets in about 10 or 20 minutes. Some of the crickets would make their escape only to come back on their own at various times to be caught.

I had a frog named Jeremiah a few years ago. I could scoop him up on the pond skimmer and carry him around. I hand fed him worms. But he left and no one has been that tame since. In fact this years frogs both left altho I'm raising a batch of tadpoles now in a tub..
