I wish I could afford it!

Does anyone know if there is a device like this for ponds? I don't think this would work on a pond but if it could do it's job without ripping up the liner every time it came to a fold it would be fantastic. I have been seriously thinking about getting a "Roomba" since vacuuming has become so painful. DH really likes the idea of the gutter cleaner.

I, too, am looking more and more for things that won't hurt my body. Do you know anyone with a Roomba? Does it just go in every which direction, or is there a pattern it follows?
Its hard to give up things we love because our bodies just can't keep up. (I'm talking watergardening.......NOT house cleaning! haha)

I had a kitchen Aid slide-in range for 13 years. It was the top of the line when we bought it, and I hated the thing. Nothing worked right, it was extremely expensive to repair, and was not a "cook's" range. Our kitchen is funny, we decided to go with two slide-in ranges rather than a cooktop and two wall ovens, so my second range has always been a lower end GE or Whirlpool, and I was always much happier with those than I ever was with my Kitchen Aid, although I think KA is now made by another company. I just bought a Samsung induction range and I LOVE IT!!! It's only about a month old, so hopefully it will not break, but so far, so good! I also just bought a french door Frigidaire. It has the two doors on top and one big freezer drawer on bottom, and I'm extremely happy with it, although it is also new. One thing I learned about the fridge--we went from a 21-year-old Amana freezer-on-the bottom to the FD, and you need a larger capacity refrigerator in the FD model to get the same useable space you have in another style. Our Amana was 21 cu ft, and we had to move up to a 28 cu ft FD model.

Lynne...you are very kind. I think the clinical DX is OCD :) As you probably have heard me say in other posts...I have a lot of baggage in my life. I am always seeking ways to look at it and then let it go. I have a hard time with guilt and a feeling of low self-esteem.I get depressed and can't get out of the house some days. I am not afraid to say so as I think it may help others who feel the same way. I also think I have lots of gifts to give ... to myself and others. I take each day and try to bring something to myself and my family and others around me. I succeed some days and others...not so much. DH and I got rid of the TV after Katrina was over. When our family moved here from New Orleans we got cable for them. When they left we decided to stop it all . Then the set went. We stopped the newspaper in May of this year. Slowly but surely we have tried to reduce the "noise". I still have the computer and we have one cell phone...no land line and no texting etc. Just our choice and our attempt to limit the encroaching world. Heads in the sand we may be ...so be it. I always feel a connection to you and your posts. I think we have a lot in common ...different paths but I believe they cross. Thank you for your note. c

It's truly a remarkable piece of property, with the views of the Hudson River and the gardens. Peggy Rockefeller was a wonderful, hands-on gardener. I once got to see her, on her hands and knees weeding, while visiting her fabulous Maine gardens with longtime friends of hers - we left her alone as we were told to do. She designed the gardens herself - what an eye. The house sold for way over the listing price - listing $22 million, sold for $35 million. I just cringe when I think of what someone with that kind of money and probably little taste, will do to that house. I keep hearing the famous decorator, Mark Hampton, from his grave; he said he was waiting for the people with money to get some taste and for the people with taste to get some money"!!! All too true!

I don't know if I can help you with the no pain pond cleaner but I can tell you about Roombas!

I own two and LOVE them!! As far as cleaning, they do a fairly good job. When I got my first ROombal back in December 2008, I got it out of the box and sent it for a spin in my living room. I had just thoroughly vacuumed the carpet AND shampooed it the day before. I was VERY surprised to find out Roomba got a full dust bin of dirt on the first go round.

It doesn't follow any set pattern when it sets out on a mission. It just roams around randomly. It does have a computer inside that maps out where it has been and where it has to go yet so that the entire rug is gone over by Roomba. It doesn't do wall edges and corners super great. But, I can tell you my rug gets vacuumed a lot more often with Roomba then it did in the past. Embarrassing to admit it but before Roomba, my carpets were lucky to get vacuumed once every couple weeks.

If you want to go to a Roomba forum, I've listed a great link below. Lots of great people there more than willing to answer question (a LOT like this forum :-) I poured over those forums for months before taking the plunge and got a lot of info. Also, keep an eye on woot.com. They often will have new Roombas for sale. I got my last one for $150 plus $5 s/h there...a lot cheaper than buying from iRobot!

Oh, I vote for the pool boy!!!! My pond would look good all the time! For some strange reason my sweet, helpful BF isn't volunteering for that task! hahaha
