Name That Plant!

What is this vine?

I saw this growing up a tree on the side of the road. The yellow/chartreuse color of the leaves makes it 'pop'. It is also covered with clusters of tiny white flowers, no fragrance`. Want to know what it is before I try to dig some up and plant it in the yard. Don't want anything invasive--all those little flowers--lots of little seeds.

When you say it must be self supporting do you mean self clinging like ivy? If so that reduces your choices. Or are you prepared to provide a few wires or hooks? This rose is Goldfinch. It had one loop of wire to start it off. There is also a Clematis montana on the other side which has a couple of wires across the roof. It flowers earlier, along with the apple blossom. I don’t know whether these choices would work in S California. This one is Solanum ‘Glasnevin’. Not over a roof but it would work there. Again just a couple of wires needed.

It can be a pest, even if it weren't invasive in some areas. You don't say where you live, but here in TN it can rapidly form impenetrable thickets that smother anything it grows over, which is most anything that doesn't move.

Looks more like a Euonymus sp. to me. Leaves appear opposite.

Thanks, after reading about it-it is a bittersweet but I am afraid it is the oriental bittersweet and it is considered invasive. I am going to see what color the berries are in the fall and then go from there.

**I looked closer at the flowers and they are all 4 rounded petals and bittersweet is 5 petals. Could it be something else or just a variation in flowers???

I'd say Euonymus too. Could you show a clearer picture of leaves and stems? The colour could well be due to a nutrient deficiency.
