The Frisco/Black Beauty/Abracadabra set of clones from Kordes are nearly thornless (you inspired me to go check my plants -- I found 2 thorns each on 2 full sized four foot tall plants). It is hard to come by these plants however under their real names in the U.S. But, no fear, the same exact plants have been renamed in the U.S. as mini floras and are available retail under the names Top Contender (yellow), Memphis Magis (dark red), and Memphis Music (striped yellow and red). You can purchase all three of them at Two Sisters Roses and here's a link. Be forewarned however that these are band size plants and will need a year or two to grow up. My other suggestion for you would be to email the good folks at Palatine Roses in Canada. They carry most of the Kordes roses as bareroots, and since Kordes seems to select their florist variety roses for having a minimum of thorns, I would bet that they could help you. I grow Full Sail too. It did the same thing the first year. However, it has been absolutely amazing this year. It was absolutely load with blooms - even after heavy disbudding. The flowers all managed to open fully but that may have been attributed to a nice spell of sunny weather. A lovely bonus is the leaves, which are beautiful and glossy even well into fall. The only minor fault I can say is that the flowers tend to hang on to their petals even after their prime. It may not necessarily be a bad thing though as it tended to give the appearance of a long flush (about five weeks for me).

Thanks so much for your answers. Very helpful all! Will wait and see. :) It is planted in an area that easily gets well over 60F during our summers. I probably ought to move it before it gets too hot there. But given the free time I have, I'll just have to keep it well watered for now. Can hardly wait to see and smell the first bloom. Full Sail is planted next to Falling In Love. FIL's first bloom was really beautiful and had a light sweet scent that I very much enjoyed. Trying this couple of 'new-to-me' roses, this year, is proving quite fun. Thanks again!

My Whisper bush might be even nicer than this, but the midge damage is heartbreaking. The bush is very large and covered with buds, but most of them look awful. wahhhhh! Now and then, a really nice bloom comes through. But Whisper could be another good white otherwise.
