ID this vine & vegetable plant (possibly both vegetables?)

Hello! I've just started getting into growing my own seedlings, and an acquaintance of my dad's gave me some seedlings that he was using to as experiments for a non-soil seed starter kit he was creating, so they could be anything. Most I've been able to identify as vegetables, like bell peppers and some variety of tomato plant.

However, there's two I haven't been able to identify at all. While I have some guesses, I haven't been able to be absolutely sure on what either are. I'm sorry for picture quality- my camera was running low on power and it did not want to focus correctly.

First suspect is this vine. It's greatly appreciating the sun it's been getting, and it's doing quite well in the large planter it's in. Recently, it's been developing these strange fruit(?) with the small hooks on the bottom.

Second is this rather pretty plant, non-vine, which I suspect to be a kind of squash. It's also potted in a large planter, where it's doing very well. The tallest leaf (in the first link below) has a reddish tinge, with red veins, while lower leaves are green, but with the same red veins. It's about a foot tall, right now.
