tadpoles and algae

Hello from down east NC. I am a pretty new pond enthusiast and am going through all the ususal things I see posted here. I have learned a lot from this forum so far. I have a question about tad (toad)poles in my pond. I recently had an explosion of tadpoles (last week) in my pond. There must be several hundred, may be a thousand or so. Pond is 10X10, avg depth of 20". I have recently had a problem with what I think is string algae. Not the hair kind but just some scummy stuff that clings to everything (plants, pump, etc) and then floats on top if you disturb it. It also is on the liner. The tadpoles are cleaning this stuff up amazingly. So much that I can see most of the black of the liner. I know with all the eating going on in there there will be a lot of waste created. I only have 6 goldfish in the pond. Is this going to be harmful to my pond?
