pine shade! marginals, pondside plantings

Como estas my fellow ponders!

My new stream is under a pine tree.. I know terrible and likely resulting in a mess. Unfortunately for me, it was either there or no stream whatsoever. So, now there is no turning back. The front of the stream is fine, clear and minimal pine needles. The back side, however, is heavily filled with needles, I can clear them, but it is more a factor of keeping the plants alive. I can divide some of my hostas for free, but have had zero luck trying to plant anything under the needles. They may last a little bit, but will surely die within a few months. So my question is 2 fold, are there any plants are know to/ that will grow in these pine needles. Is it the acid? I dont know...

On another note, are there any water plants that are shade tolerant? Preferably something floating and readily available!
