Krista, oh my gosh, what a beautiful rose! I just happen to love soft pink roses and this one has the perfect flower shape. HP's are hard to beat, aren't they?

That is a lovely rose, Krista.
I had thought about getting this one at one time and
seeing your pictures, its still on the wish list.

I guess all zone 4's are not created equal. I am still a couple of weeks away from bloom time. The rugosas and
spinosissimas are just starting to bloom, but for everything else I am still anxiously awaiting. Loads and
loads of buds, though.

Kristin, this past winter was its first winter in the garden. It did have some die back, but it came through winter well.

What was your dieback like 50% and less or more?

Silverkelt, the dieback was about 50%. I'm not sure how tall it will get once it matures, maybe 2-3 feet...

My Hybrid Perpetuals vary in their height. Anna de Diesbach is about 2- 2 1/2 feet tall, and Mrs. John Laing and La Reine are more like 3 1/2 - 4 feet tall.

Oh that's just lovely Krista. Are all your roses blooming? Mine just started to open up in the last two days. It's been a glorious year for peonies though! All this cool weather has kept them blooming for a month!

Jackie, thank you. The roses are just starting to bloom. It has been cool, hasn't it... My newly planted Mr. Fairchild has been doing well. The cool weather seemed to help the bareroot roses, even though they were planted a little late.

What a lovely, lovely rose, Krista. This one is new to me but if I could grow HP's this one would be in my garden. I'm surprised HP's stay so small for you but I imagine it's because of the dieback. It seems like an advantage actually, because you can fit so many more roses in your garden.

Ingrid, thank you. Yes, I've found that the Hybrid Perpetuals are not hardy to the tips of the canes. But that's OK... I do like to plant many different kinds of roses close together. (But it seems to turn out that most of them are pink, LOL.)
