Just under one of the leaves, second from the bottom; one of my phals, where a spike would form, I assume, is pushing out a basal shoot with two tiny leaves. Not much information on this exists online, but from what I can gather, it is a keiki I'm not supposed to cut off.
1. Is the plant doing this in lieu of a spike, or can I expect one as well?
2. Keikis on spikes, I am under the impression, are induced by low light. This is certainly not the case as all of them are outside getting sun until almost 11 am. What causes this?
3. If anything, they are slightly overlit and underwatered, so I'm not worried about rot, and with so many roots that are the thickness of kindergarden pencils, they plant appears to be healthy.
As a side note, this is the plant that first donated it's spent spike (spent when I bought it) to a jug of water to make a keiki which now has tiny roots.
Thanks
