I'm 90% certain that it's what bp said above - K-31 fescue (I think it's short for Ken31 - nothing like a little marketing to trick the old consumer, but that's another topic). My understanding of this grass is that it's "contractor grade" - very often found in generic grass seed mixes sold in the past. I'm willing to be corrected, but I believe it's much less common now, as improved varieties of fescues have become available. I have several patches - it blends fairly well, but can be noticable once you a.) know what it is and b.)becomes a big enough "clump" that it starts growing "sideways". I haven't heard of it spreading, much less aggressive spreading. Because of its horizontal growth, it may appear to be getting bigger, but I suspect the "root zone" has stayed the same, and it's just the blades of grass that get longer w/o being cut. If you're just trying for a green grass, it's not all bad - even in the middle of our high humidity, high heat summers, I don't recall it ever going dormant (i.e. not green)like bp alluded to - but his "droughts" are much more severe that what you or I would normally experience. If you want a uniform looking lawn, than R/U or the traditional mechanical method of foot and spade for removal are likely your best bet. Around here, KBG sod is about $1 / sq ft. At this point in the growing season, I think that would be your easiest bet. Yes the roots may grow deep on the existing K-31, but even if a few blades manage to poke back up through the new sod, I would think it would be a while before you even noticed they came back. I cannot believe I am reading this .. Roses grow all over the world !!!!! Hi wesley-butterflies They grow in the Sub-Tropics where I live in SE Queensland and bloom all year round. They grow further south where it even colder in the Winter but they don't bloom in the Winter there only in the warmer Seasons. I took this Pic of Iceberg very late yesterday its on top of one of my Arches I am too old to be climbing up on ladders these days to take pics So I put my 300mm lens on and the 1.4 extender that gave made my 300mm telephoto lens into 420mm so I could get a decent close up. It was 35ð Celsius yesterday with a strong wind blowing all day. Iceberg and gathering the Pollen is one of the Australian Stingless Bees Trigona carbonaria Took this pic a few days earlier one of my favourite David Austin Roses. Jude the Obscure.. Even our tiny green Litoria fallax Eastern Dwarf Tree Frogs love our roses.. Gold Bunny and Friend in March after a shower of rain that we don't get much of taken too early one morning. We even have local residents that come and eat the bad insects on our Roses.. I wish it has eaten the Scale on this pretty scarlet rose La Sevillana. We call this one Dusty it is a Bearded Dragon and often pops in for a feed. I don't know if you know of this rose Olympic Gold 2000. Put out for the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000. I grow Standards, bush roses, climbers, pillars roses, ramblers, carpet roses and a few mini ones, not many at all actually about 40 plus. I know people that grow hundreds of even better roses suited to our warmer climate.. Cannot think why it would be a shock to find that we in the Southern Hemisphere can grow roses. I went out to see if I could get a photo, but could not find a good specimen, though it was all over a few weeks earlier. But below is a photo from the web. I first confused the Lamium purpureum with it, but then noticed that the leaves were quite different. I wonder, is Lamium purpureum also edible?
